Why We Gather
LCHAD is a rare genetic metabolic disorder that prevents the body from converting long-chain fats into energy. When someone with LCHAD becomes sick or experiences a caloric deficit, it can trigger a metabolic crisis — often requiring hospitalization and risking serious long-term complications.
Because LCHAD is extremely rare, research is almost entirely privately funded. Families carry not only the medical burden, but the financial one as well.
RISE for LCHAD exists to change that.
